    Sipsongpanna, a former Thai Lue kingdom, is nowadays a small autonomous region in southern China with a remarkable ethnic diversity. After decades of repression the traditional musics and cultures of the region are florishing again. A representative selection of recent field recordings from the region. Henriette van Lennep , a Dutch composer in the classical romantic genre, became later in her life a pioneer of ' world music' on the Dutch radio, following the exeample of Constatin Braïloïu and the Unesco.   John Collins, nowadays professor of music at the University of Ghana in Legon is a writer, musician, studio owner and publisher who for decades has been promoting Ghanaian popular music. In the program he talks about his career in music illustrated with recordings from his Bokoor studio and other publishers of Ghanaian Highlife. The life story of Herman ten Kate, a Dutch traveller, physician, and ethnologist of the turn of the 19th and 20th century. In his writings he gives a vivid account of the large-scale destruction of the indigineous cultures which started in his time. Excerpts of his writings varying from his atopsy of the Indian slaves of an Argintinean museum till his lonely discovery of Sumba are illustrated with period recordings.Audio etc.
